Based in Carrum Downs, Victoria, our team brings over 100 years of combined experience in automotive design, electrical integration, fabrication, and problem-solving. From complex vehicle electronics to precision-engineered adaptations, everything we do is guided by a single purpose: to help people regain independence and confidence on the road.
Our Story
- 2013
American Vehicle Specialists was established and became a RAWS certified workshop and low volume vehicle manufacturer.
- 2015
We specialised in the left to right hand drive conversion of early and late model American cars and trucks.
- 2016
We were introduced to our first mobility modifications through a family friend, marking the beginning of our journey in this space.
- 2018
We committed fully to mobility modifications, closing our right-hand-drive conversion division and moving confidently forward with a clear focus on Independence Automotive.
- 2022
We became the Victorian Partner for Paravan products and designed and developed our first lowered floor, drive from wheelchair VW Multivan.
Meet Our Team
Our roots are in advanced vehicle conversions, including many years specialising in converting new American vehicles to right hand drive for the Australian market. That foundation in high precision engineering led us naturally into accessible vehicle modifications. When we installed our first set of custom driving controls for a family friend, it wasn’t just a one off job, it was the beginning of something bigger.
Today, we proudly support clients with mobility challenges across Australia, delivering tailored, high quality solutions that put safety, comfort, and control first. We don’t believe in one size fits all.
